  1. What is the admissions process?
    1. Fill out the application form 
    2. Send us your child's documents
    3. Complete the admissions evaluations
    4. Enroll your child
  2. Do documents need to be translated or apostilled?
    1. From 3rd grade up, documents must be apostilled and translated by an official translator in the Dominican Republic.
  3. Is the currirulum aligned with US standards?
    1. Yes, specifically the New Jersey standards
  4. What support do you offer students who are adapting to a new county or school system?
    1. The counseling department will check in with new students to see how they are adapting.
    2. Every class has a homeroom teacher who is like their school parent.  Every morning, students spend time with their homeroom teacher and they look after all of their students' wellbeing at school.
    3. We have a tutoring program after school to help students learn Spanish if they come from an English-speaking country.
  5. Does JCS follow the American calendar or the Dominican calendar?
    1. We follow both.  The school year goes from August to June and we take both Dominican and American national holidays.
  6. What is the average student-teacher ratio?
    1. We have a maximum of 23 students per class and from preschool to 2nd grade there will always be a teacher assistant in the class to help too.
  7. Is there a school uniform?
    1. Yes.  It can be purchased directly from the school.
  8. Is there a school cafeteria?
    1. Yes, we have a cafeteria that is open every break, lunchtime and after school.  
    2. The cafeteria sells hot lunches every day, typically including rice, meat and salad.
    3. We focus on healthy eating so candy, soda, chips and cookies are not allowed.
  9. What safeguards do you have to keep students safe while on campus?
    1. We have a school nurse who is available at all times 
    2. We run first aid training every year for our staff members to ensure that they are prepared to help in an emergency.
    3. We have security cameras to monitor the whole campus.
    4. The campus is secure with a security guard on the gate 24/7.
    5. We have fire alarms installed throughout the school.
    6. We run regular evacuation drills so that teachers and students are familiar with their evacuation routes in case of emergencies.
